Final Fantasy 14 will receive two major updates by the end of May 2023, director Naoki Yoshida and producer Toshio Murouchi confirmed during the developer livestream.

Titled The Dark Throne, update 6.4 will bring with it a bunch of content, including a new dungeon, raid, trial, and scenario quest. No specific release date for The Dark Throne has been given yet, though it is expected to arrive sometime in May. One of the biggest updates of this year, it will add the Artherfort story dungeon, side content, the Voidcast Viast trial, and new raid and job updates. Players will carry on their main quest adventure in the Aetherfront, a snowswept dungeon filled with threats and challenges.

The sequel to the previous main scenario quest Gods Revel, Lands Tremble will be available with update 6.4. Additionally, duty support for Stormblood will be added to The Sirensong Sea, Bardam’s Mettle, Doma Castle Castrum Abania, and Ala Mhigo. The update includes additions to the Island Sanctuary, including new gathering areas, construction plots, item rewards, materials, craftable items, structures, and sanctuary ranks.

The latest developer livestream revealed key details about the update 6.4, with developers promising that there will be even more to look forward to in update 6.45, which does not have a firm release date yet. Players will likely come across the sinister Gobez to end his reign of terror in the Voidcast Dias trial. The third Pandaemonium raid tier, titled Anabaseios, will wrap up the story for the Ascians. This will be the final raid of the patch cycle, meaning future updates won't likely add a new raid that expands the Pandaemonium story.

Lastly, update 6.5 has also been confirmed for release, adding three side quests, variant and criterion dungeons, plus new spells and gear for Blue Mage.

Before either of those arrive, update 6.38 is set to launch on April 4, featuring a few PvP action adjustments and overhauls to Pandaemonium. It also marks the beginning of the new Crystalline Conflict Season, during which players can earn rewards according to their rankings.
