Final Fantasy 16 has been confirmed (via Gematsu) to feature accessibility options in the form of "Timely" support rings or accessories that can be equipped by players new to action games. These accessories will make certain aspects of the game easier for players, such as performing combos, dodging, and healing, and a gameplay demonstration showing the accessories in action has also been provided.

Equipping and removing the rings (there are five in total) is completely optional and can be done at any time during the game, and the demonstration video shows two of the rings in action: the Ring of Timely Focus, which temporarily slows down the time before an enemy attack to allow for more reaction time, and the Ring of Timely Assistance, which can help players execute combat commands automatically.

Alongside these two rings, players will also have access to the Ring of Timely Strike, which allows them to perform deadly one-button combos; the Ring of Timely Evasion, a ring that gives protagonist Clive an auto-dodging ability; and the Ring of Timely Healing, an accessory imbued with the ability to automatically use potions to heal Clive when his health drops to a risky level.

In a separate detailed breakdown article (also provided by Gematsu), the director reveals that two of these rings can be equipped at the same time. It's also mentioned that Final Fantasy 16 won't have difficulty modes, instead opting to let players micromanage the difficulty by simplifying the aspects they find difficult or challenging.

Furthermore, combat will be determined not only by the player's action combat skills, but also by the Eikons's abilities (god-like entities with various elemental powers). Players will have the opportunity to learn new abilities from these Eikons and use them alongside Clive's standard arsenal. However, even for those players who cannot decide which abilities to use, there will be a feature that will automatically assign recommended abilities, as well as a re-spec option that will allow players to essentially change their build at any time at no extra cost.

There is also an accessory that can fully automate the commands Clive can give to Torgal, his trusty hound partner. Moreover, a lengthy post on the JRPG Gallery Facebook page adds that there will be a training mode to accommodate new players and help them practice combos at their leisure.

The page's impressions also mention that players shouldn't worry too much about the abundance of QTEs in the early levels, as they are designed to help players who aren't used to fast-paced combat, and that the game will make sure to strike a balance between accessibility and challenging difficulty in the full version.
