Many fans are awaiting Square Enix to reveal more details on Final Fantasy 16, and while the game is coming to PS5, it looks like PC players and Xbox Series X players will get their hands on it as well, here's what happened.

Is Final Fantasy 16 coming to PC and Xbox Series X?

Currently, Square Enix announced Final Fantasy 16 as a PS5 exclusive game. And did not state that it's a timed PS5 exclusive coming to other platforms. However, this might not be the case anymore.

The official site of Sony Australia now lists Final Fantasy 16 as "Not available on other consoles for a limited time". (Thanks to @RedMakuzawa and our Japanese peers at Automaton for pointing it out)

In other words, this would mean Final Fantasy 16 is indeed a PS5 timed exclusive, and will come to other platforms. Such as Xbox Series X/S, PC via Steam and/or Epic Games Store, several months after the PS5 release.

Final Fantasy XVI and its PS5 exclusivity - What happened?

First off, it's important to remember that when Final Fantasy XVI was first revealed during the Future of Gaming PS5 showcase on September 16, 2020, the announcement slide stated it was a time-limited PS5 game.

However, after the event, Square Enix and Sony reuploaded the announcement trailer of FF16, with all mentions of "timed exclusive" removed. Hinting that the game would be permanently exclusive to PS5.

Now, it looks like we're back to square one, with Final Fantasy 16 being listed for other platforms again.

Square Enix has not revealed a release date estimate for Final Fantasy 16 yet, however Yoshida Naoki shared several comments about it on the past. We also learned several parts of Final Fantasy XVI have finished development, and we'll get more details in 2021.
