Are we getting Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 news in 2022?

In Famitsu, Yoshinori Kitase most notably said his keyword for 2022 is the Final Fantasy series 35th anniversary. This might be a hint that big announcements are coming, most notably for Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2.

Note that we already know that Final Fantasy 16 news is coming Spring 2022.

Yoshinori Kitase also participated in 4Gamer’s interviews: In his aspirations for 2022, he answered:

Yoshinori Kitase: “The world of FF7, restarted with the Remake, will continue to expand itself in 2022. I also hope you will enjoy Final Fantasy VII The First Soldier as well”.

Yoshinori Kitase’s favorite 2021 game is Deathloop

Yoshinori Kitase: “Time loops have always been popular in movies and novels. There are several games with it too, but I was impressed to see it used so well by an FPS. The online invasion system with Julianna is also praiseworthy.”

Yoshinori Kitase’s favorite entertainment of 2021 & favorite person

Kitase brought up the movie It’s a Summer Film!, calling it a masterpiece. As for his favorite person, he answered it’s Elon Musk. Kitase explained it’s fun to watch how anything Elon Musk says or does makes headlines and even affects the markets.

There are several ways to interpret Kitase’s message about the Final Fantasy 7 Remake “expanding” in 2022. Perhaps Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2 news is coming. Perhaps new projects related to the Remake could be announced as well. The game’s scenarist already mentioned he might write more spinoff novels after all. We might get news on mobile game Ever Crisis too. We’ll know for sure in 2022!
