The official Final Fantasy VII Remake twitter shared a new update from Yoshinori Kitase and Tetsuya Nomura on how they decided to ship the physical copies of the Remake to Europe and Australia early, in order to help ensure that the copies of the game arrive in time for launch next week. The press announcement would go on to address players in the west that their shipments will go out this week. All of this is being done to faciliate people’s access to the game, as the world is in a hectic situation.

At the end of the message, Kitase and Nomura requested that should you get the Remake early, to please not spoil the game. They promised that Final Fantasy VII Remake is a new game that holds many new surprises for new and returning players and everyone deserves to experience those surprises themselves. A sentiment that is easily felt and shared by many.

Square began updating fans on the launch of Final Fantasy VII Remake earlier this month, keeping players informed as decisions were being made. Since then, we have received numerous updates, detailing the evolving plans and lengths that the developer was taking to make sure that players, even in this tumultuous time, get to play this long-awaited game. It should be commended that Square is being so forthcoming with this information and keeping us in the loop.

I find myself wondering though if they are worried about the game being spoiled for folks, warning that some will be getting the game early, why not perhaps release the digital copy early as well? While I realize it isn’t as easy as flipping a switch and suddenly it’s released, this method could bring the game to a lot of people’s hands all at once, the world over. This last week, reports that people overseas were already finding the game pop up on shelves flooded the internet. We are still a week and a half from the official April 10 release date, so there is still time for that option to happen.
