War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, a strategy game akin to Final Fantasy Tactics for iOS and Android, helped flesh out the strong E3 2019 lineup of Square Enix. DualShockers thought the mobile game looked good, but one thing became quite clear over the course of our behind closed doors presentation: Square Enix is hoping to flesh out Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and the world of Lapis it inhabits as its own strong sub-franchise and IP.

While games like Final Fantasy XII, Vagrant Story, and the Final Fantasy Tactics series were tied more loosely via the World of Ivalice, Square Enix is not afraid of grouping Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and War of the Visions together to lay the groundwork for what they are hoping will be a strong franchise on mobile. For starters, War of the Visions' is not shying away from declaring it is in the same world in its reveal trailer, which you can see below.

That being said, Executive Producer Kei Hirono went more in depth about what exactly Square Enix's plans are for expanding upon the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius mobile game franchise. "Here we have the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius world, which is an original universe that we had built upon, and here we are exploring this opportunity to expand upon that world with War of the Visions. As long as we have these various outlets to expand upon the universe, we think that Final Fantasy Brave Exvius itself would also continue and it would mean the continuation of its universe. We definitely have an inclination towards continuing the series as long as we can."

He then went on to explain that establishing an IP can take a while before reaffirming Square Enix's dedication to supporting the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius IP. "You can't really establish an IP unless you continue it for a long period of time, maybe even a decade if necessary. Considering how we've borrowed the Final Fantasy name for this particular series and franchise, it is our hope, task, and mission to continue it on as long as we can. We hope that our players will follow us through on this journey as well. "

Japanese and Global versions of War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius are currently in development for smartphones while Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is currently available on iOS and Android for free and is actually celebrating its third-year anniversary in the west this month.
