Many fans have been waiting to hear about the next game by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, and that wait is close to its end.

Sakaguchi-san will appear on a Nico Nico livestream next week, on June 22nd, at 8 PM Japan time, and announce his new labor of love.

The livestream will be hosted by Famitsu Editor-in-Chief Katsuhiko Hayashi, and will also feature legeadary Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu, possibly indicating that him and Sakaguchi-san will be continuing their frequent collaboration on the game that will be announced.

The new game has already been teased last week, with the release of two tracks, the theme music and another BGM.

Mistwalker’s latest title, Terra Battle, is a successful mobile JRPG that Sakaguchi-san promised to bring to console in some form (apparently a MMORPG or similar, even if there aren't many details).

At the moment we don’t know what the new game could be. It could be a mobile sequel to Terra Battle, its console version, or something completely different.

The last time we heard about the console version was back in 2016, when Sakaguchi-san himself mentioned that work was in progress even if the “road was steep.” A few months ago, a partnership for a game was also announced between Mistwalker and Bravely Default developer Silicon Studio.
