Ahead of the Tokyo Games Show starting this week, the Final Fantasy team has revealed a new trailer for the upcoming Crystal Chronicles Remaster. The trailer shows off a number of new things coming to the game and, most importantly, reveals the release date. Check it out below.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles originally released in 2003 on the Gamecube, making it the first Final Fantasy game to release on a Nintendo platform since Final Fantasy IV in 1994. The game made use of the Gamecube's ability to connect to four Game Boy Advance handhelds via link cable to deliver four-player co-op. It reviewed decently, but many felt it was hampered by releasing on the Gamecube.

The remastered edition should go a long way to improving the experience. It supports online, four-player multiplayer and lets players use cross-play to play across consoles. Remastered has also added full character voiceovers, challenge dungeons, and variant skins to unlock. There are even new bosses for players to tackle together in large-scale combat.

I personally can't wait to see how this game performs when it releases. It certainly feels like now is a great time to re-release Crystal Chronicles. Plus, with cross-play, it should be relatively easy to get together a foursome to play with.

Fortunately, we don't have to wait much longer to try it out. Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered will come to Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, and PS4 on January 23, 2020. Be sure to stay with DualShockers for all the news coming out of TGS 2019 this week.
