Final Fantasy IX PSN Port Finished

By Chad Awkerman

May 3, 2010

We already have both Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy VIII available to download via the PlayStation Network, and yet we still need my favorite PS1 title in the franchise, Final Fantasy IX! Never fear, Square-Enix has been hard at work porting the classic title over for it to be released on the PSN in the near future in Japan. Undoubtedly a North American and European release will follow, just like the other games.

It was confirmed on the Japanese Square-Enix Members Twitter feed that development was done on the port, and the only thing remaining to do was quality assurance and testing. More details will be coming soon and I can’t wait. I picked up FFVII but skipped over FFVIII in hopes that the last PS1 Final Fantasy game would release eventually, and it is looking like it isn’t all that far off.
