As a reimagining of one of the most beloved video games of all time, Final Fantasy VII Remake has big shoes to fill in delivering a new take on a classic, and according to Square, it seems that this first chapter of the game will indeed be pretty hefty.

During Square Enix's E3 2019 press conference, the company confirmed that Final Fantasy VII Remake, or at least the first portion of the game that we will be getting early next year, will ship on two Blu-ray discs when it arrives.

Specifically, it was detailed during the conference that the first part of Final Fantasy VII Remake will be "a solid standalone game in its own right," though it wasn't quite clear just yet how many chapters/episodes that the remake will encompass in total.

Despite that, the Square Enix conference still managed to deliver a pretty expansive look at the upcoming remake, including a new trailer that finally showcased Tifa and Sephiroth in action. We also got an extensive gameplay demo on stage at E3 2019 that highlighted the game's hybrid combat system of real-time and strategy gameplay, along with confirmation that the Materia system will indeed be returning.

Final Fantasy VII Remake will release for PS4 on March 3, 2020.
