It has been shared by Kotaku that Ayumi Ito, the Japanese voice actress behind Tifa Lockhart in Final Fantasy VII Remake has received multiple death threats. The threats were made separately during this past summer by an unnamed man and woman, however, the two of them have no connection to one another. The news was originally reported by Japanese news site The Sankei News.

Back in June, the woman emailed Ito's talent agency stating "I hate her so much I want to kill her. I’m going to stab her in the back of her hand with all my might.” Allegedly this threat was regarding the voice actresses attendance to a preview showing of a drama show leading to her absence at the event. Shortly following the man sent a message to an undisclosed game company threating Ito's life if her part was not recast.

While nothing has been confirmed, another Japanese site called Sanspo says that the company helps with the production and sales of Final Fantasy. Ito has since filed charges against both parties. As of now, there is no explanation as to why the two culprits dislike Ito so much to the point of making threats on her life.

Ayumi Ito is known for voicing the iconic series character several times including in Final Fantasy VII: Advent ChildrenKingdom Hearts II, and the Final Fantasy Dissidia series.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is set to release on March 3, 2020, exclusively on PlayStation 4. You can pre-order the game on Amazon.
