At the Square Enix E3 showcase today the company announced the long-awaited remaster for Final Fantasy VIII.  This announcement was somewhat unexpected due to the weird history the game has. There have been numerous different rumors regarding the game. Some say that Square wants to do a remake of the game. Some say that the company lost the code for the game. Even on the game's 20th anniversary earlier this year Square completely ignored the fact. Well, it appears that they do care and fans can look forward to its release.

Since the near beginning of this generation, we have seen Square Enix remastering old Final Fantasy titles. Final Fantasy VII, IX, X, X-2, and XII have all got the remaster treatment. For the longest time fans of the series have asked for Final Fantasy VIII to be announced and today is finally that day. Final Fantasy VIII Remastered will be coming later this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on Steam.
