Work on Final Fantasy XV Proceeding Smoothly; Final Fantasy X-3 Development Denied and More

on April 9, 2014 4:24 AM

Yesterday a few wild rumors appeared on the web about the alleged development of Final Fantasy X-3 and a new Dissidia: Final Fantasy due to an apparent mistranslation or misinterpretation of an article titled “The Truth on 2014’s Rumors” on this week’s issue of the Japanese magazine Weekly Famitsu, that is now finally on the Japanese newsstands.

The article does indeed mention the two games, but not in the way that was alleged. Producer Yoshinori Kitase confirmed that the company isn’t working on Final Fantasy X-3, while the part about a new Dissidia: Final Fantasy simply had Director Mitsunori Takahashi saying that “he’d certainly love to do it,” but no mention is made about actual development.

On the other hand Final Fantasy Series Senior Producer Shinji Hashimoto confirmed that the production of Final Fantasy XV is on track and going smoothly, while Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 Remix is now in an advanced stage of development and and is close to be completed.

We also get a confirmation that Nippon Ichi Software is indeed working on a PS4 title scheduled for next year.

The rumor definitely seemed iffy when it appeared, as it was very unlikely to get that kind of confirmation on possible big titles on a piece of that kind. Luckily, now we know the truth.
