Final Fantasy XI Will Not Come to PS Vita, After All

Back in 2011, former Final Fantasy XI Producer Hiromichi Tanaka mentioned to Famitsu that Square Enix was considering a port of the game to PlayStation Vita.

Not a pip was heard since then, and with today’s announcement of the upcoming mobile client, I thought it was time to shed some light on the issue once and for all.

I reached out to Square Enix, and the response from one of the North American reps confirmed my (and pretty much everyone’s) doubts.

Our previous exploration of FINAL FANTASY XI on the PS Vita did not materialize into a public release.

So there you have it, straight from the lion’s mouth. If you want to play Final Fantasy XI on the go, you’ll have to do so on an Android

I guess there’s always Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn in remote play…

Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality) and MMORPGs are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
