Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Gets 8 Hour-Long Maintenance Tonight Introducing Patch 2.3 (UPDATED)

If you were planning to do some more grinding on that Curtana Atma tonight, you may want to reschedule. Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is getting a large content patch tonight (2.3, also dubbed “Defenders of Eorzea“), introducing a rather enormous amount of new content including personal chambers, PvP frontlines, chocobo training, and plenty quests and dungeons.

Of course there’s a price to pay for all that goodness, and that comes in the form of eight hours of downtime during which the game won’t be accessible, from 8 PM to 4 AM PDT. On the bright side, when our characters will wake up tomorrow morning they’ll have quite a few new toys to play with.

The game’s maintenance will be followed by a downtime for the Lodestone portal and the Libra Eorzea companion app, which will be updated to the 1.3.0 version to include new items and quests. It’ll last five hours from 4 AM to 9 AM PDT.

Update: the patch is now available for download (even if not the servers aren’t open). The download is 1481 megabytes on PC  and 1185 megabytes on PS4.

He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
