Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Gets Another Microsoft-Branded Character Illustration

While speculation on the reasons behind the promotional partnership between Microsoft and Square Enix to push Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn and Windows 8 is still rampant, with many believing it hides a longer-term deal like a possible Xbox 720 release, what we do know is that today it generated another beautiful piece of character concept art.

The new illustration by Lead Character Designer Akihiko Yoshida portrays a roegadyn paladin wielding his artifact armor and wielding Curtana and the Holy Shield (the job’s relic weapons) and it’s most definitely beautiful as usual, as you can see above.

While I still feel that a release of the next Xbox is unlikely due to Xbox Live’s policies (the partnership is probably just what it looks: an attempt to push PC gaming and Windows 8 in Japan, where people normally prefer to play on consoles), Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is a MMORPG, so the more the merrier.

In the meanwhile if you want to leave your own footprint on the text art that’s being prepared on the illustration, you can follow the instructions here. Today’s question is “What slogan would you like for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn?”

Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality) and MMORPGs are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
