FInal Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Will Get Developer Commentary Videos, Shows PC Controller Interface

If you’re starved for news on Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Square Enix came bearing gifts yesterday with a new developer’s blog that gives you two quite interesting morsels.

The first is pretty much a confirmation that the publisher will release developer’s commentary videos, as we get a sneak peek on the recording of one. ┬áThe second is a rather blurry and small picture of a screen showing the game being played.

That screen has two peculiarities: it shows a baby Chocobo pet, and more importantly (depending on the point of view) it also showcases the controller interface working on the PC version of the game. So far it was shown only on the PS3 version.

As I already said when the first PS3 screens were released, I can’t help but feeling that the controller interface is pure genius, as it completely bypasses all the problem of playing with a controller, making it as fast and easy as playing with hotkeys on a keyboard.

We’ll have to see if it’ll really work as I think it will during the beta test, but I can’t say I’m not feeling optimistic.
