Today Square Enix hosted a new Final Fantasy XIV Letter from the Producer Live broadcast from its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. During the stream, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida and  Global Community Producer Toshio Murouchi talked about some of the upcoming changes included in update 4.2 and beyond.

First of all, we learn that the maintenance for the update will last a fill 24 hours, and will start on January 29th at 2:00 AM PST.

Some adjustments will be made to various jobs, and elemental stats will finally be removed. That being said, Eureka: Anemos that will launch in Patch 4.25 will still use them. Every player will increase its "elemental level"  and there will be a "Magia Board" in which players will place magicite in order to evolve their elemental stats. This content will be available for both solo players and full parties.

The promised housing update will come a week after the implementation of update 4.2 and will be rather extensive. Six new wards with respective subdivisions will be added to each housing zone.

Free companies without a house will be prioritized over everyone else. There will be plots designated for free company use, and those will be exclusive to FCs with at least four members.

Individuals will be restricted from purchasing a house for a certain period of time after implementation. The team will gauge the situation and decide when to lift said restriction.

To prevent hoarding, players won't be allowed to own more than one private and one company house per world per account.

Resale of plots will be restricted. When the owner leaves a plot, it will be unavailable for a random period of time, which won't be displayed.

We also get to see some new gear, and new pieces of furniture designed by players as part of the Furnishing Design contest.

Below you can see a tease of the Valentione's Day event, that will bring a lovey-dovey atmosphere to Eorzea in early february.

Pre-orders for a rather magnificent Shiva figure also started today. It will cost $144.99, and it will release in mid-February.

Last, but not least, the next Letter from the Producer Live broadcast will happen on February 10th, from Sapporo capital of the Japanese northern region of Hokkaido.

Today we also heard that the update will be live on January 30th, and we saw its trailer. If you want to see more, you can also enjoy some recent screenshots and more from the previous release.
