Final Fantasy XIV Players Will Be Able to Modify Their Characters in A Realm Reborn, Including Names

May 2, 2013

Final Fantasy XIV players have been wondering about what specific features of their old characters they’ll be able to change with the release of A Realm Reborn, especially considering that there will be three new combinations between race and gender available (male miquo’te, female roegadyn and female highlander).

Today we finally got confirmation of the best case scenario thanks to Community Manager Robert Peeler.

I know confirmation has been a long time coming on this one, and we’re glad to finally detail how this will work! When you log into A Realm Reborn for the first time with your old character (specifically after phase 4), you will have the ability to redo any aspect of your character — one time only. This includes the ability to change your name.
Everyone’s getting a second chance at a first impression!

There you have it, straight from the lion’s mouth. If you ever played Final Fantasy XIV you’ll be able to change basically everything of your old character after the end of the open beta, whether it’s race, gender, looks or name.

Are you going to give your favorite hero a makeover before you set foot on the new Eorzea?

He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
