Today, during Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn’s third anniversary livestream, Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida introduced update 3.4, which will be titled “Soul Surrrender.” He also announced that it will be released on September 27th.
Yoshida-san, aided by the ever-present Community Manager Toshio Murouchi, went on to showcase the contents of the update (and of the follow-up patch 3.45). Grab a coffee because there’s a lot to take in.
Quite obviously, the main scenario will be continued, with the return of the Warrior of Darkness and his band.

The battle system will get some relevant updates:
The end of the Alexander raid dungeon, titled “The Creator” will be implemented, alongside two new trials featuring Sofia of the Warring Triad.
Two new dungeons will be introduced: Xelphatol and the hard mode of The Great Gubal Library.
PvP will be updated, including the introduction of duels.
The Palace of the Dead Deep Dungeon will get more levels with patch 3.45.
Grand companies will still get a new rank (1st Lieutenant), the Platoon feature and new equipment.

The Gold Saucer will be updated as well:
Housing will get an extensive addition with apartments, aquariums and a playlist for the orchestrion, on top of new furniture:
A new control method providing more action space for controller users has been added, the “double cross hotbar,” or “W cross hotbar.”
Additional updates include adjustments to exploratory missions and new Allagan tomestones, which will also bring a new set of equipment inspired to Sharlayan.
Moving past patch 3.4, a few more data about the future of the game and upcoming events was also shared, starting with a new Odin figure that looks really fantastic:
More information was provided about the upcoming fan festivals, including bonus costumes from Final Fantasy X.
A Final Fantasy XIV karaoke room will also be open in Akihabara, Tokyo.
Last, but not least, we get a summary of the events for Tokyo Game Show, where Final Fantasy XIV will have a big presence, on top of the merchandise that will be sold on location (those hashi shall be mine, no doubt about that).
