Final Fantasy XV Announced for PC; Coming in Early 2018

PC gamers finally know when they'll be able to play Final Fantasy XV on their rigs, thanks to the announcement of Final Fantasy XV: Windows Edition.

Final Fantasy XV Director Hajime Tabata promised a major announcement at Gamescom, and it indeed a rather big reveal did come.

Square Enix just sent in a press release announcing that the game is coming to PC. The release is slated for early 2018.

Thanks to a partnership with Nvidia, the the port will include GameWorks technology for real-time graphics and physics simulations. Below you can find a list of all the goodies.

  • NVIDIA Flow – creates vivid, combustible fluid, fire and smoke.
  • NVIDIA HairWorks – creates dynamic, life-like hair and fur for characters, animals and monsters that inhabit the game.
  • NVIDIA ShadowWorks – enables characters to cast shadows on themselves.
  • NVIDIA Turf Effects – creates life-like grass and vegetation in the game environment.
  • NVIDIA VXAO – adds depth and realism based on the physics principles shadows and light.

The game also comes with support for GeForce Experience‘s suite of capture tools.

  •  NVIDIA Ansel, an in-game photography tool that allows gamers to compose shots from any position, adjust with post-process filters, capture HDR images in high fidelity formats, and share screenshots in 360 via a smartphone, PC or VR headset.
  • NVIDIA ShadowPlay Highlights automatically captures the player’s greatest gaming achievements in video and screenshot, enabling seamless sharing through social channels.

Interestingly, the package will include all the updates and DLC released on consoles, and it will even feature a completely new first-person mode.

Final Fanatsy XV: Windows Edition will be distributed on Steam, and the listing page is already open.

Interestingly, the announcement trailer’s description included a set of absolutely demanding “recommended specs”. Yet, we don’t know if they’re final.
