Looks like Final Fantasy XV is showing some legs in its digital download version, as it dominated the ranking for the second week in a row, leaving behind some heavy hitters like Yakuza 6. Sega's ultimate ojisan simulator debuts in second place failing to dethrone Square Enix's latest JRPG as it did at brick and mortar stores.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 debuts decently in third place, while The Last Guardian manages to grab a 4th place, perhaps paying the price of the fact that gamers who embraced digital download in Japan are normally a bit younger than those who prefer to buy their physical Blu-ray disks, so they are less influenced by the legacy of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus.

Another interesting element is that Titanfall 2 keet beating Battlefield 1 for digital sales, despite the fact that the Battlefield franchise has consistently been a heavy hitter on the Japanese PlayStation Store in the past few years. Maybe it's not as surprising considering how fond the Japanese are of their giant mecha.

Final Fantasy XV's extensive free update plan might have influenced its staying power in the ranking, while today Square Enix announced the first DLC packages and a new update coming on December 22nd.
