New Final Fantasy XV Real World Product Placement Is Hilariously Weird: American Express Welcome

Final Fantasy XV isn’t new to real world items and brands appearing within its fantasy world. Coleman camping equipment has been included in the game since the Episode Duscae demo, while Nyx drives an Audi R8 across Insomnia in Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, passing by Japan Airlines billboards.

Yet, there is more: just look at the screenshot below. Let it sink…

After all, Noctis is a prince. What prince worthy of his title would travel without his American Express gold card? Does he ever wonder where the heck this “America” place is?

Yes, I’m not joking. According to the press release from the Japanese branch of American Express, the campaign will work both ways, with those who will get a new American Express Gold Card or Business Gold Card in Japan before August 31st receiving the game as a bonus.

On top of that, the first hundred will also receive a Play Arts Kai figure of Noctis, while those who will spend over 150,000 yen within three months will be rewarded with a 10,000 yen gift card with one of five Final Fantasy XV designs, which you can see below.

A “fantasy based in reality” indeed…
