Naoki Yoshida, Producer of Final Fantasy XVI:
“This is Yoshida, Producer of Final Fantasy XVI. This is the latest title in the series, a project which started with an unusually small team, and was steadily made bit by bit. We’ve now revealed it alongside a first trailer, with real-time cutscenes and battles scenes. Did you enjoy it? Until the game is completed, we will do our best to increase the quality even more, and make it the best experience there is gameplay wise and story wise. The next big information release is scheduled for 2021, so please make your imagination work and wait for further details! Please keep your attention on both FFXIV and FFXVI ! I’ll do my best on both fronts!”
Hiroshi Takai, Director of Final Fantasy XVI:
“I’ve been playing the Final Fantasy series since my student days. The first game of the series where I joined the development team was Final Fantasy V. Since then, I was granted the opportunities to work on the online games Final Fantasy XI and Final Fantasy XIV. Now, I am the Director of the 16th entry, and we are taking on various challenges with it. Plus, we’re developing it on PS5. The development team is hard at work every day. I think it will take some time until we will be able to make the game reach you, but please wait in anticipation!”
The Japanese press release mentions Final Fantasy XVI is an Action RPG. No CERO rating was set yet. No release date. The logo was made by Yoshitaka Amano. And that Final Fantasy XVI is needless to say a single player game. The Japanese press release only states “PS5”, but it’s also coming to PC according to the PS5 showcase.
Ryota Suzuki, who worked on Devil May Cry 5‘s battle system at Capcom, previously explained his role as Battle Director of Final Fantasy XVI.
