The Final Piece of State of Decay 2 Concept Art Releases Before PAX East

This piece of concept art, the artist says establishes the game's themes better than any of the previously released. The punishing journey, the protagonist's ever-longing to retain humanity

It’s been a fun few weeks, but all good things must come to an end. Undead Labs, the developer behind the upcoming State of Decay 2 has been steadily releasing concept art from the game leading up to PAX East, and the final one is here.

According to the artist, the image below was used to establish the lighting for the 2016 E3 trailer, but that didn’t stop them from having a little fun with us first.

“The endless road is a metaphor, promising a new world at the end of the horizon, but of course you never actually get to the end. The road always leads to another road, and there’s no escaping yourself at any point along the journey. You are the monster you fear the most, you are the danger that threatens, and the only ray of hope in all of the endless night to come is that you are also the one in the driver’s seat.

“I’m just messing with y’all, this was us testing out different light levels in order to make the most effective 2016 E3 trailer. We ultimately decided on a little more past sunset than this.”

Undead Labs has promised that a release date for the game can be expected at this year’s E3.
