Firaxis Goes Over Risk vs. Reward System in XCOM: Enemy Unknown Developer Diary

Well, it’s been 10 years since the last entry in the X-COM series hit retail shelves, but today we get the first video sneak peak into the development of this year’s Enemy Unkown through the developer diary from Firaxis, which we’ve embedded for you after the jump because, hey, we like ya. In the video, lead programmers Casey O’Toole and Jake Solomon go over what they call a “re-imagining” of the first game in the series, which released in 1993 for the PC.

The cover system receives much attention, as does the fact that you can adjust the camera in order to gain a tactical advantage not previously possible in the series, as described by art director Greg Fortsch. XCOM: Enemy Unknown is scheduled for a fall release.
