Fire Emblem Awakening Set to Have Free Launch DLC, Weekly Content to Follow

If you’re a 3DS owner and you’ve had a turn-based strategy RPG itch that you’ve been meaning to scratch, February 3rd you should look no further than Fire Emblem Awakening. Today, Nintendo is announcing some of the connectivity features found in the upcoming title. Among the list are downloadable maps, the first — available at launch — will be free for a limited time, with weekly premium (see: paid) maps to follow.

At launch, players will also be able to get their hands on free content through SpotPass. The game will also support StreetPass, which will allow players to create teams of 10 units to interact with the world around them. Nearby players will appear on the ¬†game’s world map and interaction can be anything from item, weapon, and gold exchange to even recruitment.

If you’re looking to try the game before you buy it, a demo will be available on the e-shop on January 17th.
