After recruiting the formidable Rosado and Goldmary in Chapter 16 of Fire Emblem: Engage, Alear now has six Emblem Rings, equal to the amount the Fell Dragon's forces possess. There's much more work still to do, though, so there's no room for complacency. The protagonist's forces must steel themselves, because the next chapter pits them against all six Corrupted Emblems that remain. It's the biggest threat they've faced yet.

Chapter 17: Serenity in Ruin is a challenging map that can be a roadblock for many players, but help is at hand. Here are some tips for completing the map and saving the port, detailing the most challenging enemies faced and a plan for tackling the objective and prevailing.

Notable EnemiesFire Emblem Engage Serenity In Ruin Map marked with enemy locations

1. Griss & Celica

With the power of the deadly Celica's Warp Ragnarok, Griss can suddenly teleport across the map and deal heavy Magic damage. If players can tank this hit, however, he will be vulnerable to attacks, though it's still vital to be wary of his Revival Stone.

2. Marni & Roy

Marni is likely to be one of the biggest annoyances in this whole map. She has Roy's Ring, so his Hold Out skill will prevent her from dying in combat, as long as she begins said combat with more than 20% of her HP. To make matters worse, she also has a Revival Stone, meaning that multiple rounds of combat will be needed. She also has an incredible Defense stat, meaning that Mages will need to carry their weight against her. Thankfully, she has no way to counterattack ranged foes, so these Mages should be safe while attacking.

3. Mauvier & Micaiah

Mauvier is not too much of an issue on his own, but he's holding a Recover Staff, meaning he can provide huge heals to enemies near him. He also notably cannot deal physical damage, so allies with the Resistance stats to take him on are essential. Naturally, he's also equipped with a Revival Stone.

4/5. Corrupted Wyrms

Fans must be very careful where their units step around these Wyrms. Not only do they have a 1-4 attack range, but their attacks ignore the foe's Defense and Resistance. An important thing to note, however, is that they use two different weapons to attack. Fireball, which can only attack at 4 spaces, and Fire Breath, which has 1-3 range. Therefore, if the player baits an attack at max range, they can then rush in to finish it off while it cannot counterattack.

6. Corrupted Hyacinth & Leif

Hyacinth, like Mauvier, has the ability to heal his allies, so be sure to keep that in mind. In terms of combat, he has Leif's Vantage, Arms Shield, and Adaptable, so it's crucial for the player to be very careful who they use to attack him: He can swap weapons to counterattack. Like the bosses before him, Hyacinth has a Revival Stone, this time a Corrupted Stone. This means after he is defeated once, he will become empowered upon revival. His Killer Axe's high Crit can be devastating, so he's a priority target.

7. Zephia & Sigurd

Like Griss, Zephia's threat range is much further than fans may expect. She is equipped with the power of Emblem Sigurd, giving her 12 Movement. Combined with her Levin Sword, this allows her to strike foes 14 spaces away. Sigurd's skills, Canter and Momentum, mean she will be able to move after combat, as well as gaining additional damage for each space moved before combat. The key is to be very careful who she is allowed to attack, as her damage can be surprising. Like Hyacinth, she possesses a Corrupted Revival Stone, so the assault on her must be carefully planned.

8. Veyle & Marth

As the final boss of the map, Veyle is holding the Ring of the Hero-King. Like the two before her, she has a Corrupted Revival Stone, granting her extra power when revived. It is also important to remember that, while she has physical and magical weapons, her only 2-range attack is a Tome. This means she can be baited out by a unit with high Resistance.

She can still switch to her Rapier, though, so care must be taken when attempting this.

As each of the listed enemies are quite powerful on their own, the best path to victory is to bait out and defeat each of them one by one. To begin with, it's best to head North and use a Resistance-heavy unit to entice Griss into using his Warp Ragnarok skill. This will place him far from his allies and give players the chance to deal with him.

Next, players should regroup and head West. Hugging the bottom of the map will enable the party to stay out of range of the Wyrms, and defeat Marni. As mentioned before, this attack will need to rely almost exclusively on Magic damage, due to her and her armored friends' high Defense.

After Marni, the team can carefully pick off Mauvier and the two Wyrms. They must be careful of Zephia's range while doing so, though, and also be careful not to engage her until they're ready. A Defense-heavy or Chain Guarded unit can lure Zephia into attacking. After Zephia, Hyacinth must be dealt with, then only Veyle remains.Fans must make sure to bring plenty of healing Staves and not be stingy with their Engages, as this fight is a marathon to deal with.

Unlike many other maps, it's not necessary to do anything extra to get any of the items in Chapter 17. They are all dropped by boss units, meaning they will be collected just by completing the map. Players will get a Bolganone and Fortify when defeating Griss, both of which can be extremely helpful for this map. Then, Hyacinth will drop his Flashing Fist Art, and Veyle a Master Seal. Finally, upon completing the map, the team will regain the Ring of the Holy Knight and the Ring of the Sage Lord.
