A recent blog post on the official Nintendo Japan website revealed that Fire Emblem Engage is getting a manga series, which is set to debut next month, with a prologue dropping on February 3, 2023.

The manga shall be published in a magazine called Saikyo Jump, which is known for being comprised of spin-offs from larger IPs, like My Hero Academia's Team-Up Missions series. Following the prologue's release in February, chapters for the Fire Emblem Engage manga will drop monthly, its official first chapter releasing on March 3, 2023. The creation of the series will be led by one Kazurou Kyou, who's most known for their work on a manga called Hime-dol!!

Some images from the manga have been shown off via Nintendo's post, and these confirm that the adaptation will feature the male version of protagonist Alear. The manga's first three chapters (four if you count the prologue) will be available to read for free on Shonen Jump Plus indefinitely. The following chapters will only be free for three weeks, meaning that, if you miss out on a chapter and aren't able to read it in time, you'll have to become a paying subscriber to catch up. It is currently unclear how many chapters the manga will have.

Fire Emblem Manga SS

Fire Emblem Engage is the most recent iteration of Nintendo's classic tactical RPG franchise, which began in 1990 with Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light. Engage released on January 20, 2023, making it the second mainline entry in the series for the Nintendo Switch, the other being 2019's Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The game has so far been received quite positively by critics, currently boasting a score of 83 on review aggregate website OpenCritic, with many reviewers praising its top-notch strategic gameplay.

The game's main selling point is its namesake, the Engage feature. This allows the player to fuse characters in their party to Emblems, which are essentially spirits of old Fire Emblem protagonists like Marth, Roy, Corrin, Ike, and more. Doing so gives your character a powerful buff for three turns, during which they can activate special Engage skills like splitting damage between two targets, moving further in a single turn, removing hazards in the way, and more.
