Nintendo revealed more information and screenshots for Fire Emblem: Three Houses through Famitsu, expanding on what we've seen in the game's previous trailer. We've got new details on the story, on the protagonists, the students we'll need to teach, and on the continent of Fódlan. The Japanese cast was revealed as well.

As already explained in the trailer, Fire Emblem Three Houses' Fódlan Continent is divided between three superpowers. The Adrestian Empire at the south, the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus at the north, and the Leicester Alliance at the east. These three are currently at peace, and the balance is maintained by the Church of Seiros. The church has its headquarters, the Garreg Mach Monastery, located at the center of the continent. Promising young people from all three superpowers study at the officer's academy located in the Monastery.

Fire Emblem Three Houses first asks us to pick either a male protagonist or a female protagonist. The male protagonist is named by default Byleth and is voiced by Yusuke Kobayashi. The female protagonist is named Byles and voiced by Shizuka Ito. There is no difference between the two besides their looks. Both have the same story background and the same base stats.

The protagonist is the child of a mercenary leader. Their mother passed away when they were young, and they now work as a mercenary with their father. The protagonist is also having the same dream over and over, where a mysterious girl appears. One day, during one of their jobs, the protagonist comes across a group of young people being attacked by bandits. Discarding their own safety, the protagonist rushes in to protect the group and is about to get struck down. At that point, the mysterious girl from their dreams appears and saves them by stopping and rewinding time. The girl introduces herself as Sothis. She tells the protagonist she will lend them her strength. As the bandits are defeated, it turns out that the group the protagonist saved are three students from the officers' academy at Garreg Mach Monastery. These three are also destined to lead the three superpowers of the Fódlan continent. Their ability recognized, the protagonist is invited to work as a teacher at the academy.

Next, here are the new character details, screenshots, and artworks.

Jeralt is the protagonist's father and the leader of a mercenary group. In the past, he was the leader of the Knights of Seiros, the Church of Seiros' army, maintaining order on the Fódlan continent. Jeralt is famous and once held the title of the strongest knight in the history of  Fódlan. In a twist of fate, he is invited to the Garreg Mach Monastery with the protagonist, returning to his old headquarters once again. Jeralt is voiced by Akio Otsuka.

Sothis is the mysterious girl who appeared in the protagonist's dreams and saved them from death. As she appears and speaks directly in their mind, only the protagonist is aware of her existence. Sothis has the power to rewind time but doesn't have memories of her past, so she doesn't know anything about herself. Sothis is voiced by Tomoyo Kurosawa.

Sothis has an archaic way of speaking, and judging by the screenshots from Famitsu, her discussions with the protagonist are identical regardless which one you picked.

As we already know, we'll need to pick one of the three houses of students at the beginning of the game. The Black Eagles house regroups students from the Adrestian Empire. The Empire is the oldest of the three superpowers of Fódlan. Most students from the Empire are talented in magic but in counterpart have a rough time mastering weapons.

Edelgard Von Hræsvelgr is the house leader of the Black Eagles and the next Empress of the Adrestian Empire. She's highly talented and exudes a noble aura. She constantly evaluates the people surrounding her and quickly realizes the protagonist is a trustworthy person. As she was saved by the protagonist, she also wishes to repay her debt toward them. Edelgard is voiced by Ai Kakuma.

The Blue Lions house regroups students from the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus. Because of their culture as knights, most students in that class excel at using lances. Dimitri Alexandre Bladud is the house leader of the Blue Lions and the crown prince of Faerghus. Dimitri is a polite young man who embodies chivalry. However, at times, it seems as if he's hiding a dark secret. Dimitri is a diligent student and treats the protagonist with honor and respect. Dimitri is voiced by Kaito Ishikawa.

The Golden Deer house regroups students from the Leicester Alliance. The Leicester Alliance is relatively new compared to the other two superpowers. Most students from the Alliance are commoners, and they excel at using bows. Claude Von Regan is the house leader of the Golden Deer and the heir of the noble family who leads the Alliance. Claude is a friendly young man, always seen with a smile on his face. At first glance, he might look like someone frivolous, but he has a keen insight and notices how special the protagonist is. Claude is voiced by Toshiyuki Toyonaga.

It's worth noting that both Edelgard and Dimitri have family names referencing mythology, while Claude's family name sounds more modern, probably to show the different history of the three powers.

Famitsu also published new details and screenshots detailing Fire Emblem Three Houses' game systems. We'll be covering that soon with another article.
