The new Jumanji reboot replaces the board game with a more modern video game, as the PS4 appears in the first trailer.

Today Sony Pictures Entertainment released the first trailer of its Jumanji film reboot Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and the title certainly sends a lot of nods to video games.

While the old  and glorious 1995 movie was themed after a board game, the reboot will be set in a video game, and more precisely in a title for a fictional retro console that four high schoolers find in a basement.

After being transported into the world of the game, they’re actually transformed into the avatars they selected in the game, which is pretty hilarious, as you see in the trailer itself at the bottom of the post.

Since Sony is involved in the production, and given the video game theme, I don’t think anyone will be surprised by seeing some healthy product placement, with the PS4 appearing in one of the scenes.

More precisely, we get to see a Wave Blue DualShock 4 handled by one of the protagonists.

It’ll be interesting to get the full picture of the portrayal of video games presented by the film, when it’ll hit the theaters this December.
