After the bankruptcy of Radon Labs and the subsequent purchase by browser game publisher Bigpoint, many wondered about the future of the Dark Eye IP and the chance to see any more single player RPGs like Drakensang set in the world of Aventuria.

Luckily Calypso Media bought the IP and revived a project called The Dark Eye: Demonicon, ensuring the survival of the classic dark fantasy setting in the video gaming world. Today they released the first screenshots of the game, that you can see after the cut:

Each of the screenshots also includes a brief blurb about some of the features of the upcoming game, that is scheduled to be released in 2012 on PC and “next-generation consoles” (whatever they intend with that definition, but for now we’ll assume they’re just talking about PS3 and Xbox 360).

Giuseppe Nelva

Hailing from sunny (not as much as people think) Italy and long standing gamer since the age of Mattel Intellivision and Sinclair ZX Spectrum. Definitely a multi-platform gamer, he still holds the old dear PC nearest to his heart, while not disregarding any console on the market. RPGs (of any nationality) and MMORPGs are his daily bread, but he enjoys almost every other genre, prominently racing simulators, action and sandbox games. He is also one of the few surviving fans of the flight simulator genre on Earth.
