Today, lone-wolf developer David Wehle -- who you may recognize as the creator of Home is Where One Starts -- announced that his beautiful and peaceful looking third-person exploration is set to arrive on PC and Mac next month, September 14, 2017.

The First Tree follows two parallel stories: a fox trying to find her missing family, and a son reconnecting with his father in Alaska. Players take control of the fox on a "poignant and beautiful journey that crescendos at the source of life, and perhaps result in and understanding of death."

Along the way, players will uncover artifacts and stories from the son's life as he becomes intertwined in the fox's journey towards The First Tree.

According to Wehle, The First Tree is a game (likely) for gamers who are fans of titles such as Firewatch, Shelter, Gone Home, and Journey. Similar to those titles, the game's length will run on the short side (around an hour and a half), and will feature light puzzle solving and platforming.

It's currently unclear how much The First Tree will cost when it launches (likely no more than $19.99 USD). Below, you can check out a new gorgeous launch trailer which accompanied today's release date announcement:
