FlingSmash in Line to Be a Top Seller?

By François Chang

November 9, 2010

Nintendo recently released FlingSmash for Nintendo Wii. The game comes bundled with a Wii Remote Plus, and is priced at a generous $49.99. So let’s break this down. A Wii Remote Plus alone costs $39.99 – which would make the game itself cost about $10. Does this sound familiar? It should, because this was also the case for a game called Wii Play. The Wii Play bundle came with a regular Wii remote controller (before MotionPlus was even thought of) and the game. At the time, a regular Wii remote cost $39.99, and this would technically make Wii Play cost $10. With such a seemingly good deal (if you think Wii Play was even worth the $10) in place, Wii Play wound up being one of the best selling Wii games of all time.

Will this happen again with FlingSmash? The holidays are coming, and people are going to need extra controllers for their brand new and gift wrapped Wii’s. My money is on the majority going with the FlingSmash bundle.
