Mobile games have taken on a reputation in recent years of being based around the idea of free-to-play titles and microtransactions, but the mobile platform also has provided many eye-opening and charming interactive experiences to enjoy, with one of these coming next year from the designer of Monument Valley, called Florence.

Publisher Annapurna Interactive has announced the release of Florence, an "interactive story about love and life" that will be developed by Mountains, the independent studio under the leadership of Monument Valley designer and artist Ken Wong.

Specifically, the game will release in 2018 on iOS and chronicle the life of a young girl named Florence, and traces the "heartracing highs and heartbreaking lows of a young woman's very first love," with the studio citing inspirations such as films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and (500) Days of Summer, and "'slice of life' graphic novels" that aim to tell the game's story "about all the different moments in a relationship, both joyful and painful."

Florence will release sometime next year on iOS devices.
