Focus Home Interactive Strengthens Game Lineup With Several Partnerships
Focus Home Interactive is partnering with Sumo Digital, Saber Interactive, Deck13,, Lighbulb Crew, and more for future titles.
This week marked Focus Home Interactive’s annual What’s Next event, and with it came the confirmation of several new and continuing partnerships, cementing that it will be a European publisher to look out for over the next decade. From Dontnod to Saber Interactive, Deck13, Sumo Digital, and more, a lot of interesting titles seem to be in Focus Home Interactive’s pipeline.
Yesterday, we learned of the studio’s continued partnership with Vampyr developer Dontnod; today, Focus Home Interactive also detailed several other partnerships that will be continuing. Deck13 is set to continue working with the publisher after the release of The Surge 2 later this year on a new IP. A Plague Tale: Innocence developer Asobo Studio, Masters of Anima developer Passtech Games, and Space Hulk: Deathwing’s Streum On studios are all also working with Focus Home Interactive on future tiles.
That being said, the biggest continuing partnership seems to be with Saber Interactive. That developer has previously worked with Focus Home Interactive on Mudrunners and World War Z, and is working with them on several upcoming titles for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and mobile devices. These titles are Mudrunners 2, a co-op focused new IP, the other a Warhammer 40,000 game for consoles and PC with a AAA scope.
Saber Interactive will also be handling Nintendo Switch and mobile ports for many of Focus Home Interactive’s games. Specifically, Vampyr, Call of Cthulhu, and a new Farming Simulator game are currently in development for Nintendo Switch, and Mudrunners is coming to iOS and Android. Speaking of Chaosium’s Call of Cthulhu, Focus Home Interactive has secured the rights to make games based on that IP for the next decade.
Even with all of that, What’s Next also housed the reveal of several new partnerships. Focus Home Interactive is partnering with Sumo Digital, specifically the recently acquired Sumo Newcastle, for a new multiplayer game set in a dark and violent universe. They are also working with the recently formed Gasket Games on a new game based on a Games Workshop IP.
Another fledgling studio based on Estonia, Limestone Games, is also working on a new game with Focus Home Interactive, though it’s still shrouded in mystery. Focus Home Interactive is also working with French Studio Lightbulb Crew on Othercide, a turn-based game with horror themes that will be releasing later this year.
Overall, Focus Home Interactive seems to have several interesting titles in the pipeline for the next couple of years. From bigger studios like Dontnod, Sumo Digital, and Saber Interactive to smaller, indie-level studios like Lightbulb Crew, Limestone Games, and Passtech Games, the French publisher seems to have a wide breadth of upcoming titles that should appeal to a variety of gamers.
