For Those That Can’t Handle 3D Effects, Now There’s the Nintendo 2DS

Nintendo has just dropped another bomb: on October 12th, they will be releasing a new model of the 3DS that’s called…wait for it…the 2DS. This version is a 3DS capable of playing any 3DS and DS games without using the 3D featuresl, making it the perfect portable version for both casuals and children. It also comes with all the other system features of the 3DS. The biggest surprise–this model will sell for only $130.

Another noticeable difference is that the portable does not fold in half like the previous models, giving it a distinctive look. While your mileage may vary on the aesthetics, it serves to distinguish the 2DS from the 3DS and especially the DS, which will minimize confusion among potential purchasers. I’ve also noticed that 2DS will be releasing the same day as Pokemon X and Y. Coincidence?
