Square Enix Collective announced that the ThroughLine Games developed 2D cinematic animated platformed Forgotton Anne will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 15.

To celebrate the release date announcement, the publisher released a new trailer showing extended gameplay from a few of the puzzles that players will encounter during the game. Additionally, it gives a preview of Forgotton Anne's premise along with a few of the animated cutscenes from the opening of the game.

“As anyone who was able to catch Forgotton Anne throughout 2017 will know, this is one of the best, most striking looking games we’ve ever put out,” offers Phil Elliott, Director Indie Publishing at Square Enix West. “This isn’t just an adventure that looks like an anime, it’s anime in full, fluid motion. We simply cannot wait to get this beauty into the hands of gamers - it’s a story as delicate and engaging as the world it plays out in.”

Forgotton Anne tells the story of a girl named Anne who has found herself in a place known as the Forgotten Lands with another human named Master Bonku. Together the two must escape this world of forgotten items and return to the human world. During the game, players will encounter 2D puzzles and platforming sections along with dialog choices that alter the game's story.

“It’s been a genuine pleasure to watch gamers and critics alike tuck into Forgotton Anne’s early builds over the last 12 months, but now’s when things get really exciting,” offered Alfred Nguyen, Creative Director and Co-founder of ThroughLine Games. “We think we’ve created a world that both pays homage to some of the biggest anime films but also takes the art form in a different direction, giving players the chance to live out an animated adventure for real.”
