Today, it was revealed -- via Games Industry -- that Stuart Whyte, formerly studio director at the now deceased Lionhead Studios, has joined up with PlayStation, specifically with Sony London (SIE London Studio).

Whyte, a veteran of the industry, has undertaken a newly-created role of director of VR product development. A position he will be starting on Monday.

As mentioned above, Whyte was previously studio director at Lionhead (the team behind the Fable series), until Microsoft shut down the studio last April. Before his role as studio director, Whyte held the following positions at Lionhead: operations director, head of production, executive producer, and publishing officer.

Additionally, during his career of almost 25 years, Whyte has also held senior positions at Supermassive Games, Microprose, Bullfrog, and Wildebeetle. He is also notably a board member of TIGA.

Speaking to GI, Whyte said the following about the move:

"I'm super excited to be joining the London team to lead them further on their journey to becoming the world's leading AAA, VR Team."

As you may know, Sony London is known as the company's VR developer, developing projects such as PlayStation VR Worlds and The Playroom.
