It looks like players eager to get their hands on Square Enix's upcoming Forspoken will be able to try the game out before its release next year by way of a free demo. The Forspoken demo hasn't been officially announced yet, but Sony is in fine form with its leaks this week and the official PlayStation Japan Twitter account has leaked the demo's existence. Yesterday, the official PlayStation Twitter account for the English-speaking world put out a short announcement stating that Forspoken will be getting an extensive gameplay showcase on December 9. The tweet came with a very brief clip, the time of the stream, and not much else. RELATED: Street Fighter 6 Release Date Leaked Via PlayStation Store

However, the PlayStation Japan Twitter account, which posted near enough an identical tweet, albeit in Japanese, also included a thumbnail for its attached video clip, and it's the thumbnail that has let the cat out of the bag early. The thumbnail states, in English, "Forspoken Demo Announcement Trailer." The tweet has, naturally, since been removed, but not before being screenshotted by eagle-eyed and fast-fingered fans.

This isn't Sony's first leak of the week, as the platform holder has also leaked the Street Fighter 6 release date and its various digital editions and their pre-order bonuses over on the PlayStation Store. It's expected that Street Fighter 6 will show up in some form during today's The Game Awards 2022 where an official release date announcement will most likely be made. However, Forspoken may not, given that the gameplay showcase is set for the following day, December 9, indicating that Square Enix doesn't want its upcoming game competing for attention.

The Forspoken gameplay showcase is set for December 9 at 10am PT / 6pm GMT. The showcase will run for around 11 minutes and fans can expect to see brand-new gameplay sequences and more of the game's world.

Forspoken will release on January 24, 2023 for PS5 and PC, and with the release date being so near, it's safe to assume that any demo would be released in the not-too-distant future.
