Fortnite Chapter 2 Introduces New Map, Fishing, and New XP System

Fortnite Chapter 2 is now live with a bunch of new features.

After spending many hours staring into a black hole, unable to play Fortnite since The End event took place the other day, players have now finally seen their game update. The update introduces Fortnite‘s second chapter and the first season of the new beginning. The new chapter also introduces a brand new Battle Pass.

The first big change that many people had speculated on was the introduction of a new map. The new map introduces a whole new playing field with 13 locations to explore. The map shows a range of islands connected with large rivers and streams separating them, allowing players to make use of the new mechanics focused on water. Swimming is now introduced to the game, along with fishing that uncovers sunken items, and even boats.

You’ll now be able to pick up your downed teammates and carry them to safety, and in addition, a new Bandage Bazooka allows you to heal them from a distance. New emotes allow players to high five other members of their team too now.

Things seem to be getting a bit more tactical in Fortnite as players can now hide in haystacks and dumpsters, as well as being capable of blowing up gas tanks and explosive barrels.

A new “streamlined weapon arsenal” arrives and players can upgrade them at Upgrade Benches at the cost of giving up resources.

There is also a new XP system to change the way players level up now, apparently causing less grinding to level up. Medals are also awarded now for completing in-game activities.

The Battle Pass trailer shows off the new XP system in action before announcing that there will be over 100 rewards. The Battle Pass costs 950 V-Bucks but players can earn back up to 1500 V-Bucks by playing Fortnite.

Fortnite is now no longer a black hole and can be played on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android.
