Fortnite Battle Pass Dog Re-Skin Pulled From Official Shop an Hour After Launch

Within an hour of release, Epic Games pulled a re-skinned version of their Fortnite Battle Pass exclusive cosmetic from their store and game.

Earlier this week, Epic Games released a brand new Fornite dog called Gunner on their official store. The problem? It turned out to be a re-skinned Bonesy, which was previously released as an exclusive cosmetic from the season six Battle Pass. The one that Epic stated would be exclusive to the pass and will never be made available separately.

Reddit user PhantomRacer32 made an image comparing the two versions:

But in an interesting and surprising turn of events, Epic removed Gunner from their in-game store and will be completely scrubbed from the game. Here’s the official statement:

We should not have released the Gunner Pet and apologize for doing so.

Within the next couple of days, all purchases of Gunner will be refunded for the full amount of 1000 V-bucks as well as an additional 200 V-bucks and the Pet will be removed from the Locker.

Anyone who purchased Gunner and refunds it prior to this make-good will instead receive 200 V-bucks and an additional refund token that can be put towards any eligible items that were purchased within the past 30 days.

Back in June Microsoft released a Xbox One S Fortnite Battle Royale Special Edition bundle which included a purple console, controller, and some in-game bonuses. And in July it was found that Fortnite and other popular battle royales have seen a steady decline in streaming viewership during the last four quarters.

Just recently Epic confirmed that despite some controversy from fans, the new mechs in Fortnite are going to stay in competitive play. With some tweaks of course.
