With "battle royale" games being all the rage in the past year, Fortnite: Battle Royale is upping the ante and giving players of the popular free-to-play standalone game a new mode to jump into starting tonight.

During tonight's broadcast of The Game Awards, a new trailer debuted for Fornite: Battle Royale revealing the game's brand new 50v50 mode that will let players take on another team of 50 in epic-sized matches, though the mode will only be available for a limited time.

The 50v50 playlist in Fortnite: Battle Royale is available starting right now through December 17th, and along with the increased player counts on both teams, some specialized rules will also be in place in the mode for a bit of balance change compared to the regular Battle Royale experience. The full list of those rule changes can be found below:

  • Friendly Fire Off (But you will still see hit indicators.)
  • Limited visibility of non-squad teammates.
  • Squad VoIP only.
  • You can revive ANY friendly teammates.
  • You won’t see non-squad teammates until you land.

Fortnite: Battle Royale is available now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac - for a closer look at the new 50v50 mode announcement, you can check out the new trailer from The Game Awards below:
