Earlier this morning, Epic Games revealed that its co-op early access game Fortnite will be receiving a new PVP game mode later this month that might be quite familiar to some gamers.

This new mode, called Battle Royale, is Fortnite's take on the recently popularized genre that has been primarily made famous this year by PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. While there are many similarities between Fortnite's take on Battle Royale compared to Battlegrounds -- 100 player PVP, everyone starts in a the same transport and glides to the ground below, etc. -- the crafting mechanics, destructible environments, and colorful world that Fortnite offers is what will set it apart.

Currently, Battle Royale is slated to come to Fortnite in just a few short weeks on September 26 for all platforms. However, those who are looking to go hands-on with it a bit earlier can try it out for themselves in the public test area of Fortnite right now.

Epic Games also released a new trailer to show off a bit of what the Battle Royale mode will look like in Fortnite while also talking about the reasons as to why they wanted to implement it into the game. You can find that video at the bottom of the page.

As of now, Fortnite is currently in early access and retails for $59.99 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac. When it fully releases next year, Fortnite will go free-to-play on all the same platforms.
