Ahead of the arrival of Borderlands 3 next month, it seems that the popular shooter franchise will be crossing over with one of the world's most popular games.
Announced by Epic Games today, new content based on Borderlands will be dropping in Fortnite's latest update that is being called Fortnite x Mayhem. From now until September 10, Epic says players will be able to "loot your way through the Pandora Rift Zone, take on themed Challenges for free rewards, and pick up the Psycho Bundle from the shop."
The Psycho Bundle, as you might be able to guess, lets you play as the Psycho enemy type from the Borderlands series. In addition, you'll also be able to run about the game's world with Claptrap on your back if you snag this bundle.
As for the new Pandora zone that has been added to Fortnite's map, it is meant to mimic the look of the Borderlands series, cel-shading and all. Epic says that if you spend enough time in this area, your character will also generate a shield. There are also some other surprises in store if you travel to this area as well.
This is definitely a surprising crossover to a certain degree, but it's also worth pointing out that 2K Games and Epic have already partnered together to release Borderlands 3 exclusively through the Epic Games Store on PC once it launches. Perhaps part of that collaboration was to then also bring Borderlands content here to Fortnite ahead of release, too.
