A few days ago it was revealed that Fortnite would be receiving the previously teased mode Playground today, much to the excitement of fans. It seems, however, that things have gone off to a rough start, as Epic Games has officially removed the limited-time mode from the battle royale shooter.

According to the developer's official Twitter account, the mode was experiencing some incredibly long wait times due to the number of players attempting to try it out, and because of this, the mode has been removed while Epic tries to fix the issue. While the wait times and matchmaking problems seem to have been fixed, as of the time of this writing, Playground has not yet been re-enabled, and we have no idea when that will occur.

In the meantime, however, Epic Games has enabled a new variation of the previous LTM, this time putting players in eight teams of twelve. It's also unknown whether this mode will continue when Playground comes back.

Fortnite is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch, as well as iOS and Android devices.
