Fortnite And Rocket League Team Up for Llama-Rama Event
Rocket League goes Free to Play tomorrow and is celebrating with Fortnite.
Rocket League is ramping up for a huge change to the game. Starting from September 23, the game will be transitioning from a paid title to Free to Play and in the process leaving Steam behind on PC for an Epic Games Store exclusivity. To celebrate the move to the Free to Play model, and no doubt the Epic exclusivity, Rocket League and Fortnite have teamed up for a brand new “Llama-Rama” event.
The event, which runs from September 26 until October 12, will allow players to complete challenges and earn Fortnite rewards in Rocket League and Rocket League rewards in Fortnite.
The official Fortnite blog post reads:
“The Battle Bus has a full tank of boost and is flying into Rocket League! Fortnite is celebrating Rocket League’s move to Free to Play with Llama-Rama — a crossover event where players can complete Rocket League Challenges to unlock rewards for both Rocket League and Fortnite. It’s the perfect time to check out what Soccar is all about!”
During the event there will be a total of five different challenges, each earning different rewards, ranging from playing an online match to getting MVP in any Online Match with the new Fortnite inspired Llama Wheels. Completing the final task will earn players the biggest reward, unlocking Fortnite’s infamous Battle Bus to use within Rocket League and an Octane RL Back Bling for use within Fortnite.
To redeem the rewards within Rocket League, players will have to visit the Event Challenge Page on completion of each Llama-Rama challenge. Rewards will automatically unlock within Fortnite.
Alongside the upcoming switch to Free to Play, developers Psyonix confirmed that players will no longer require an active PS Plus or Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play the game.
Rocket League is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC via Epic Games Store, PS4, and Xbox One and will be going Free to Play from tomorrow.
