While today might just happen to be the Fourth of July, it also happens to be the premiere day for Stranger Things' highly-anticipated third season, giving viewers another chance to see the strange happenings in Hawkins, Indiana. Just in time for the debut of Season 3, Fortnite players can also get in on the Upside Down with a new event taking place today.

Epic Games has officially announced that a FortniteStranger Things event is beginning today to coincide with the third season's release on Netflix, with the world of Fortnite getting turned a little Upside Down in the process. In the Mega Mall area of Fortnite's map, Stranger Things-esque portals from the Upside Down have begun appearing in certain areas that will teleport players to different parts of the mall, echoing the Starcourt Mall that plays a big role in the newest season of the show.

Given the buzz and anticipation around the series' third season, it's not a huge surprise that we would get a crossover between the two, but themed events in Fortnite seem to have been working well for Epic since they were first introduced with the Avengers: Infinity War event last year that featured the one and only Thanos (and again with Endgame in April). Likewise, in May we also saw Fortnite cross over with John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, officially adding the infamous hitman to the game.

Fortnite is available on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, iOS, and Android, with the Stranger Things event now live across all platforms.
