Fortnite v5.0 Patch Notes Released with New SMG Weapon and More; Save the World Mode is 50% Off

Fortnites' latest content update has arrived and alongside a new weapon and other features, the game's Save the World mode is available at half price.

With the recent kickoff of Season 5, Fortnite has been giving players plenty to do in exploring its new time travel theme, and now the game’s latest update has provided a few new changes and features across all platforms.

Epic Games has released the official patch notes for the v5.0 content update for Fortnite, with the update itself providing some new features, such as a new SMG weapon to utilize in Battle Royale, though being a bit lighter on updates compared to past patches.

However, alongside the update, Epic also detailed that the game’s Save the World mode is currently available at a discount of 50% off from now through July 30th, which should fans interested in checking out the game’s original mode a spin on the cheap.

Fortnite is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and iOS, and will be coming to Android sometime this summer. For a closer look at the game’s latest update, you can check out the v5.0 patch notes below:

BATTLE ROYALE

WEAPONS + ITEMS

  • Submachine Gun added.
    • Available in Common, Uncommon, and Rare variants.
      • 19-21 base damage.
    • Uses Light Ammo.
    • 30 round capacity.
    • Can be found in floor loot and chests.
  • Tactical SMG has been added to the Vault.
  • Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle damage increased to 75/78 from 63/66.

SAVE THE WORLD

WEAPONS + ITEMS

  • Typewriter Assault Rifle added to the Weekly Store.
    • A mid-range assault weapon with a high capacity magazine and a lateral kick. Its shooting profile makes it ideal for clearing groups of nearby enemies in mobile engagements.
    • Available Wednesday, July 18 at 8 PM EST until Wednesday, July 25 at 8 PM EST.
