Well-known insider, Jeff Grubb, recently stated on his YouTube channel, Game Mess, as transcribed by VGC, that upcoming Xbox exclusive, Forza Motorsport, has likely been delayed into late 2023. He is apparently hearing that the current internal timeframe for the title is Q3 2023, so from July to September, though he adds that it may be "even later than that."

Forza Motorsport is Xbox's long-time racing sim franchise, which began in 2005 with the original titular game. The most recent iteration of the franchise, Forza Motorsport 7 released back in 2017, to a mostly positive reception. 2023's Forza Motorsport is being branded like a reboot of the franchise, though it's essentially another continuation of the series like the ones that came before. The franchise is helmed by first-party studio, Turn 10, which has exclusively made Forza games since its inception in 2001.

Forza Motorsport received a gameplay deep-dive back in June of last year, part of the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase for Summer Game Fest 2022. The trailer revealed a lot of the game's advanced visuals, its dynamic time-of-day cycle, its car damage system, and more. In its final moments, the trailer confirmed that the title would be releasing on Xbox platforms and PC in Spring 2023.

The game's most recent trailer, which was part of Xbox's January Developer Direct, showed off some more features and content, which you can read about here, but, when it ended, the release window was conspicuously missing from the final splash screen, and it simply read "Coming 2023." This had already raised some concern among fans, and now Grubb has further corroborated it. He affirmed that he was "feeling pretty good" about this delay being correct, given that he asked about it "a couple of times."

The Developer Direct confirmed that Minecraft Legends was coming out in April and Redfall was coming out in May, so, besides the fact that Forza Motorsport probably needs more development time, it could be that Xbox also wants more space between its major releases. Furthermore, it's still unknown when Xbox-exclusive Starfield will launch, though it's apparently still slated for the first half of 2023.
